Abstract

Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (1863 - 1943) is a well-known Sufi sage of the Indian subcontinent. Whose services are prominent in various fields of Islamic sciences such as Tafsir, hadith, jurisprudence, Sufism and also in Seerah writing. In his permanent books Seerat Nashaar al-Tayyeeb fi Zikr al-Nabi al-Habib (PBUH) and Kasrat-ul-Azwaj-li-Saheb al-Miraj, he has recorded blessed hadiths and incidents of his life on the style of jurisprudence. He has derived the guiding principles for the Muslim Ummah in the light of the blessed hadiths and events, so that it is easy for the Muslim Ummah to understand the Sunnah of Muhammad (PBUH) and follow it. His style of reasoning seems to be isolated from other biographers, that by explaining the aspects of the characterisation, the community can understand the principles of the religion along with the blessings and make every member of the community bound to follow the Sunnah. Along with the mention of the virtues of the Prophet (PBUH), he also emphasizes the deeds of the Prophet (PBUH), for example, he describes the acts of worship, morals, affairs and society, etc.
