Abstract

There are so many resources for livelihood; the most important
resource among them is business. It plays vital role in development,
success and freedom of a person, nation or a country. Since, Islam
wants to see its believers developing, successful, independent and
sovereign, it not only permits for lawful business, also emphasizes and
inspires for honest business, and the honest businessmen are
encouraged for benefits here and hereafter. As the Holy Quran says:
"O, you who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves
unjustly except it be a trade amongst you, by mutual consent."(Nisa;29)
The holy prophet (P.B.U.H) said: "The one who does business with
honesty and sincerity, on the Day of Judgment,will be with the
prophets, the honests (siddiquein) and the martyrs."(Jame- Tirmazi:
vol.1. P: 229)
AllamaHifz-ul-RehmanSewhari says: "The secret of economic
development and success in business is that the more a nation takes
interest in it , the more it will be independent and prosper
economically. And the nation that does not take interest in business;
economically it will always be suppressed. And other peoples (nations)
will dominate its culture, civilization, economy, politics even religion……
The nation which does not do business properly, it will soon die, and will
be destroyed. That's why Islam emphasizes on proper and honest ways
of business, it tells its blessings and importance, worldly advantages
and advantages hereafter." (Islam ka Iqtisadi Nizam. P:242)
No doubt Islam is the religion which tells the principles and ethical
values of everything in life for collective and individual benefits. This
paper discusses at length Islamic Ethical Values of Business. In the
view of Holy Quran and Sunnah it has been tried to shed light on the
establishing trade ties and developing it for individual and collective
benefits and studied on Islamic teachings regarding Business Ethical
Values
