Abstract
The science of Qiraʼāt al-Qur’ān is enriched with linguistical, lexical, phonetical, morphological and syntactical forms permitted with recitation of Qur’ān and its understanding. Among the writers of Islamic scholars, the writings of Ibrahīm bin ‘Umar al-Buqā’ī (d. 885 h) give a great deal of insight into the community of the Qurrāʾ and exegesists of Qur’ān. In his writings on Qirāt al-Qur’ān in his Nazam Al-Durur fi Tanāsub al-Āyaāt wa al-Suwar, there are specific examples to make many observations on the difficulties that the eponymous readers and their transmitters are therein reported to have experienced. It have a great impression to preserve and stabilize the textual intonation of Qur’ān. Allama al-Buqā’ī’s far-sighted Qur’ānic thought established the few more stages of intonation of Qir’āt for comprehension of textual relation between the surās of Qur’ān. Along with the determination of principles and rules, he provided further proof of Qur’ānic understanding, foresight and scientific access in the practical application. In this article, the thought of al-Buqā’ī’s work on the Qur’ānic consonantal text, the most familiar Arabic dialects and vernacular forms at time of the revelation, variant readings and their impact on interpretation of verses of Qur’ān will be elaborated.
