The Importance of Aasar e Sahaba for the interpretation of Qur’anic Verses related to the Initial Ghazawat

Abstract

There are different sources which have the basic status for the interpretation of the Islamic commands and revealed material. Quran and Sunnah are the very basic two sources and the sayings of Sahabah are the third source for the interpretation of the Islamic commandments and practices. These interpretive sayings of Sahabah are known as “Aasar”. These interpretive sayings of Sahabah which are called “Asaar_e_Sahabah” have great significance in the interpretation of the Holy Quran. We have discussed the importance of such Aasar related to the initial Ghazawat . It will highlight the importance of Aasar_ e_ Sahabah for the interpretation of the Quranic verses which were revealed about these battles known as Ghazawat. There are many questions which were to be answered and queries to be addressed about the details of Ghazawat. While Sahabah were the direct participants of these Ghazawat. They took part in these Ghazawat and witnessed the revelations related to them. They also received the interpretive sayings of Holy Prophet which related to these incidents and described them in their own words accordingly. It is why the sayings of Sahabah have vital role for the interpretive purpose of verses related to Ghazawat.
