The Phases of Earthly and Unearthly Revelation of Quran: Discussions and Ordinance

Abstract

Among the primary and the foremost discussions of the Qur’ānic Sciences is the Descent of the Qur’ān (Nazūl al-Qur’ān). It is deeply associated with the History of the Qur’ān. The prime discussion of the Descent of the Qur’ān is coming down from the Guarded Tablet (Lauḥ Maḥfūẓ) to the heavens of the world and from there to the heart of the Prophet (May Allāh be pleased with him). The matters which are being enlightened in this article are: Different stages of the Descent of the Qur’ān being supported by The Qur’ānic Verses and Traditions, the prudence and sagacity of the first and the second descent, critical analysis of the connotation of the successors, inferring from the traditions pertaining to the first and last revealed verses of the Qur’ān and the analysis of the scholars’ interpretations.
