Abstract

Islam as a complete code of life focus on the welfare and betterment of its followers in this and the world hereafter. Though moral and spiritual aspect of human life is more important but some time worldy and materialistic dimension is neglected. Zakat is one of the basic pillars of Islam which ensures social and materialistic uplift of society while success in the hereafter is result and reward of this obligation. If in a Muslim society Zakat is paid with true sense, it can benefit all the social classes. Social and moral aspect of Zakat is not only for the sake of social welfare but by paying Zakat Muslim purify their soul and as a result personality development goes in right directions. In this article it has been tried to project social betterment and uplift rather than just rules and regulations.
