Abstract

Sunnah is the second basic source of Shariah. In certain periods there developed some schools of thought that had some different ideas about Ahadiths that differ from the authentic viewpoint of muslim Ulama.In the Sub-continent Molana Amin Ahsan Islahi is in the view that Ahadith must be rejudged and reconsidered as the Mohaddithin had not given due importance to the evaluation of the text(matan)of Ahadith. He has also described the principles and the criterion to evaluate and asses the Ahadith.The Principles ,he has stated has many ambiguities in it. In this article Islahis criterion is examined critically and it is proved that the Mohaddithin s way of evaluating Ahadith was up to the mark.
